The Suspension for Mustangs and Ford Unibody has Just EVOLVED.
It doesn't get much simpler than this. Gateway's coil-over strut and unique spindle replace the original upper A-arm, coil spring, and shock set-up in '65-'73 Mustangs to supply a better ride and much improved handling.
The Gateway MacPherson strut system replaces most of the factory components, which uses a large coil spring and shock on top of an upper-A-arm.
The Gateway strut mounts to the factory shock tower utilizing the three holes that previously attached the shock bracket. There is no drilling on 66 or earlier. You will need to drill 3 holes per side through the spring retainer plate on 67 and later.
The new spindle mounts to the original ball joint on the lower control arm. Two large bolts attach the top of the spindle to the coil-over strut. Ride height is adjusted by removing a pair of set-screws, then turning the threaded sleeve in the lower strut mount to raise of lower the car. A small bolt is used to adjust camber. Performance brakes are included with most SPG suspension systems. The Street Extreme comes with 14-linch rotors and six piston Baer calipers.
